Appreciate the valuable information and recommendations for using PAM in agriculture. Great benefits in reducing erosion, as well as irrigation efficiency. Have any studies been done on using PAM to reduce/control erosion on construction or development sites? On disturbed sites, a horrendous volume of silts and clays sometimes washes into storm drains from construction activities. Many bmps are recommended including silt fences, berms, sediment basins, filtration wattles around stormwater inlets, etc. etc. If studies could be done to show spray application of PAM to be effective in reducing loading of suspended sediment in runoff from construction sites, this could be a most valuable tool to benefit water qauality, to maintain soil quantity and quality on sites, to enhance both environmental and aesthetic quality in development areas, and to reduce costs for developers to comply with environmental regulations.

Looks like all is going well at Kimberly. Keep up the good work.

I am a Bioenvironmental Manager, heading a small R&D NGO. I am pretty certain that this woderfull and professional web site will be saving lives very soon as I hope to stabalize some mountain slopes that were denuded from forest cover and were subjected to severe sliding due to the devastating earthquake that struck Northern Pakistan and Azad Kashmir nearly 2 years ago. The Govt has tried to stabalize the slopes with plantation but due to monsoons downpours the slopes slide before the trees can dig in. I am going into detail because I wish someone out there can chip in with experience and lead me to a good supplier. Thanks are due to the entire team. Best Regards

This is the best website I've encountered anywhere in the USDA. I hope it continues just like this so I can keep using it. So many resources! So easy to get around and find things compared to the others!

Very nice Research Center. I'll try to visit the site from time to time.

Who Ya' Gonna' Call ? . . . . Who else but USDA - ARS - Bob Sojka!

Very nice Research Center and useful web site. I'll try to visit the site from time to time.

The more I work with PAM, the more uses I find. With or without drought, PAM should become a "farmer used tool" similar to fertilizer and pesticides for all farmers! Drought just makes it even more important in "stretching our water".

I am very impressed on this entire site. I look forward to my visit with the staff next week and will be sure my grandchildren have a link to your Sci4kids site, they will thoroughly enjoy it.

PAM's are now being used extensively for their groundwater pollution reducing abilities when mixed with basal fertilisers in Australia. Is this occurring in other countries??

It's a wonderful place. I'd really like to come and see it.

Your web is good to our knowledge. That can help to improve my study about the polymer interaction to the soil. I will make a thesis about the influence soil conditioner on soil loss to complete my study in final year. I hope you can help me to send any reference books about the particular.

Sounds like scientific research is alive and well in Southern Idaho! I enjoyed working on my masters degree research in Kimberly during the summer of 1998 with the help of Chuck Robbins and Larry Freeborn. Keep up the good work!

This is better than Science Fiction!!

very good website.

I am Professor at federal University of Santa Maria Rio Grande do Sul State in Brazil. I was surfing on internet and I found the ARS-Kimberly homepage. I'm Working on Soil and Water Engineering (use of vertical mulching to control runoff. You have a good site! Prof. Afranio A. Righes - (Ph.D from Iowa State University-USA).

Your PAM page is very informative and well organized with concise information on what I was looking for. However, I was wondering if you had any information about Krilium testing by the Monsanto Company back in the early 1950's on Water-soluble Polymers like PAM.

More power. It is a nice but not fully complete site. I searched for papers about the effect of rock and stone cover on erosion, but found nothing.

I can find acrylamide in Iran, HOW can I prepare polyacrylamide?
